Well, not quite The Knife themselves, but the animator behind their superb video, Motomichi Nakamura has produced an animation for the up and coming band Temposhark’s single “Blame“. Above you can see Nakamura’s Chaz & Daz Vinyl Toys and he limits his colours to white, black and red just like The White Stripes.
The sound kind of reminds me of a slightly better yet just an average MTV pop/rock band and I’m mostly posting this for the video (I hope there’s more about them for Nakamura seems to have excellent taste). But Temposhark come from Brighton/London and have just released their debut album “The Invisible Line” which drops names like Guy Sigsworth, Imogen Heap and Martin Glover aka Youth.

Some of you might know Swayzak that hail from London and focus on subdued dark house. Well, on their latest album, I’ve found a perfect example of a tech-house song that builds and builds and then, near the end (or the bridge of pop songs), finds a huge climax in a fantastic hook. Swayzak saved the best for last on their latest album “Some Other Country“ released on !K7 last year as “They Return” is the last track on it. You can have a listen once you navigate to my muxtape :]

Masterfully, Estonians voted the best singer off from the first final of the second season of “Estonia In Search For A Superstar” the local equivalent of X Factor and American Idol.
Keit (pictured on the right), you can cry if you want to, but this is not your party, anymore. Well, on the more “gleeful” side, Anna-Liisa Supp (on the left), one of the best among last year’s contestants, was voted off in a similar case where talent and the performance itself meant little to the public. Maybe they’re too mature for the teenage oriented Superstar show where posing and almost passing for a talent is something to strive for.
Or is it that the house/soul loving part of the audience missed Keit’s performance which was first and then, as they found the general level of talent paper thin, switched the channel never returning. Well it may be the case that they’re poor as well; but I can’t even vaguely imagine who votes anyway. Just friends? Is it then really about having a strong orkut network?
Anyway, I hope that Keit finds her way through (and perhaps emigrates from Big Bad Taste Land Estonia). For instance, Anna-Liisa Supp added a follow-up to her wonderful “Bigger than Everything” on her myspace recently. That’s exactly what happens (good music!) when people get to do what they like/want and dedicate themselves to the cause.
Yes, I wouldn’t have dared to imagine this disappointment of results.

I wouldn’t post it otherwise, but it has a kind of strange dreamlike quality to it, even reminding of The Shining’s REDRUM. Excepter are from Brooklyn (such a prolific place for good music these days) and sound like dub noise disco, sort of. Or take it as it says on their myspace: “a synthetic protest band engineered to erase cultural distinctions through polarised confusion“.
Well, this is “Kill People” video off of “Debt Dept” released on Animal Collective’s Paw Tracks label. The video isn’t too brilliant, but you can always switch tabs (or if you’re into kitch…). Anyway, seems to me that the American experimental bands are so much better (or at least appear to be as they’re better known) than their European contemporaries at the moment.
